New Amusement Park

Jill and Mark arrived at the new amusement park.

“Have you been here before?” Jill asked.

“No, I haven’t. I heard it’s kinda like a museum/amusement park all in one.” He told her as he carefully landed the Xaerolet compact space jet on the high rise landing strip. Once the landing skits deployed the seat belt harness unhooked and retracted automatically as did the domed, glass windshield.

“Wow, I didn’t know this place was so big. I’m really looking forward to visiting the park!’ Jill told him excitedly. They both stepped into the elevator and rode down to the surface in a flash. Immediately upon exiting the elevator they heard the looped recording start.

“What do you want to ride first? It's all so overwhelming, I just don’t know where to start.” Jill said with the biggest grin on her face.

“Let’s just get in line, let’s go on this “Start of the Apocalypse” ride, it looks kind of tame.” Mark said as he steered her toward the line, ‘it’s a pretty short line too.” He added.

WELCOME TO START OF THE APOCALYPSE - Please keep all body parts (hands, arms, legs, long hair, etc.) inside the ride at all times. If you have long hair, it is advised that you put it up, if possible with a band or hat of some sort.

“NEXT!” the ride operator yelled. Both Jill and Mark moved forward. “Do you have any questions regarding the safety warnings?” he asked. Both shook their head, No. “Great!  Then here we go,” he said as he opened a square 8x8 cage. It was made of 20th century rebar and had a three inch square lattice framework all around the top part of the cage. ‘Please have a seat” He directed as he handed them the seat belt. “The first part of this ride is a quick history and a ride through a time capsule of how the apocalypse started. The second half is the thrilling escape coaster. Enjoy your ride.” He told them as he latched the door closed. With a light jolt and a catch the cage was lifted and entered through an opening high in a dome.

Jill and Mark both looked down into the devastated ruins of some big city as they heard the condensed version of how the vaccine for the flu virus reacted adversely with a designer drug and created the start of the zombie generation; that resulted in the ruin of the Americas. They looked down as the scene changed  and followed along with the narrator as it showed people changing into zombies and how Marshall law was implemented and how the supply and demand and the whole of the government crumbled and fell. And how if it wasn’t for the brave souls who were able to escape and start the world they have today, they might not exist. ‘I really find this hard to believe.” Jill said as she continued to look on. "I mean, seriously, did people really just start eating each other? That's just really gross."

"I think it was just the warm flesh and blood they wanted, I don't think they cared if it was another human or not." Mark told her.

The narration continued "here on the left you will see a small zombie herd still in existence; this herd was captured and brought here specifically for this exhibit."

“I can’t see anything.” Jill said.

“Look, there they are, in the corner. They are all grouped together.” Mark pointed out.

“Oh, yes, I see them. WOO HOO!! Over here…Turn around, come over here.” Jill yelled and banged on the side of the cage. “HEY, HEY ZOMBIE PEOPLE…come over here.”

When the herd of zombies turned her direction, she became very excited as they lumbered over to their direction, hissing and moaning effectively. "Oh my, they look so real and disgusting all at the same time." Jill said.

The Zombie herd was upon them before they knew it. The zombies reached through the lattice cage and grabbed at them and hissed and moaned.

Jill screamed as they snapped and pushed and shoved at the cage.

"Damnit, why'd you bring them over here? Mark asked as he side stepped a grabbing zombie.

Jill turned away from the pawing zombies and saw why they were huddled together. The only thing remaining was the skeleton from the appetizer they were feeding on.
