Faulty Transmitter

“Shit!” Chris shouted. “I told you not to touch anything!” she hollered, apparently to no one as she looked around at the inky darkness around her. It happened instantly, one second she was in her kitchen at the sink, and the next she was here. She didn’t have an idea as to where here was, so she just stood a minute trying to get her eyes adjust to the darkness.

She saw nothing, she tried to look harder, but there wasn’t a sliver of light to be seen. She smelled the stench of body fluids; blood, vomit, puss, feces, urine. It all disgusted her; with outstretched arms she tried to feel her way to a door or light. Her hands touched a jelly feeling substance so she immediately pulled them back. She could only imagine the sludge that crept up between her toes and “sppffft” the popping, sucking sound immediately transmitted her to another location.

“OUCH! GODDAMNIT! STOP PUSHING BUTTONS!!” She yelled. Her second foot landed on tacks, Legos, nails or something sharp and sinister that poked and pricked the bottom of her feet. Again she stood, trying not to move. In this place, she could see the pointed cones of all different lengths and sizes jutting out from each of the walls, that looked as if they were closing in on her…and they were. She was never so glad to hear the sound of…”sppfff” again.

For an instant she was back at her kitchen sink..’sppfff”

“OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!” She yelled. Chris couldn’t move. She was lying on a hard surface, she tried to lift her arms to feel around her but she only had limited room to move. She tried to sit up and hit her head on a wooden surface. She just lie there, wondering if she had been buried alive. She was thankful when she heard the …’sppfff

When Chris realized she was back in her kitchen she yelled. “DO NOT PUSH ANOTHER BUTTON! I’M GOING TO WHIP YOUR ASS!” She finished as she came around the corner. “I’ve told you many times not to push these buttons.” She said sternly to the wide eyed little girl looking up at her, with a trembling lower lip. “This does bad things to mommy.” She said more softly. “Now which one did you push first?” She asked.
