The New Law
I arrived home just in time to see the postman
leave the package inside my screen door. I’m glad I saw this, because I knew
Bob or Molly Nelson or one of their two kids, would have moved or opened the
package before I got home. This had happened before with other important
deliveries, but not today. I’m glad I saw where it was placed because the news
reported, we would be needing the contents of that package soon enough.
It had finally happened. People were living much
longer than anticipated, there were better medical facilities and great
technological advances in fertility treatment, even men were having children.
The Junior movie coming to life..right here, right now and the fact that
no one practiced family planning these days made the population rate explode.
With exploding population rates also comes the
depletion of natural resources, the degradation of the environment and the high
cost of living. The unemployment rate has soared to an all-time high and then
of course the lack of housing. This is why now it is perfectly legal for this
Nelson family to homestead on my porch and I have absolutely no rights, to
remove them off my property. I am contributing to the welfare of the homeless.
I have a measly paying job, I pay the bills and
buy just enough food to survive. Instead of buying a loaf of bread that would
last a week, I decided to splurge and purchase this item. They are scarce and a
nurse was selling them on Ebay. She said they were her personal supply, but I
know she probably stole them from the medical facility where she got laid off.
It was just a disposable respirator but I thought I would be able to use it
going from my house to my car on the days I actually had to leave the house.
Now with my telework job and home delivery service, I rarely, if ever, have to
leave.
I painstakingly took the time and used every
plastic grocery bag brought to my house and sealed each and every window. I
cannot even begin to fathom the amount of dust that will be in the air once the
new law goes into effect.
It happened today! I was on my way home from
venturing out to the HR office, who called me in to come and sign a Tax form.
This was an emergency and absolutely had to be signed with pen and ink. I am
sitting in my car, in this bumper to bumper traffic jam, trying to get back to
the safety of my home when I hear the emergency announcement.
If you are in the vicinity of West 9th and
Albemarle the Incineration Plant has experienced a major malfunction and the
sifter grate is not in operation. The sifter grate insures the pollution
exiting the smokestacks is shredded or grated to the smallest particle level.
With this sifter grate inoperable you may see remnants up to 4 inches in size.
This normally would not be a big problem, however, this is the plant that was
also acting as the county crematorium.
At the same time I see the black cloud dissipating
over the area where I am sitting in traffic, and wouldn’t you know it, I left
that damn mask laying on my kitchen table.
